Who we are
Commutick is made by Jitaly, an independent developer based in Ireland, who is responsible for your data under the GDPR. You can reach us at commutely.dev@gmail.com.
What the app sends to our server, and why
| Data | Why | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|
| Your location, if you allow it, and the places you set (Home, Work, trips) | To find the stops near you and the buses that go where you're going | Not kept. Used to answer the request, then discarded. Our server doesn't log it. |
| A random install ID | To know when your free month of Pro started | The ID and its start date, for as long as the service runs. It isn't linked to your name, email or Apple ID. |
| Your subscription receipt, signed by Apple | To check that Pro is active | Not kept. Checked on each request. |
| A push token for the Lock Screen countdown or an arrival alert | To update the countdown and send the alert | Only while it's running: at most 90 minutes for the countdown and 3 hours for an alert, then deleted. |
Your legal basis for this processing is that it's needed to provide the service you asked for.
What stays on your phone
Your commutes, settings and the last times we fetched are stored in the app and its widget on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
Location is optional
Without location access, Commutick still works: it shows your commute based on the times you set, from the stop you choose. You can change this any time in the iPhone Settings app.
Other companies involved
- Apple handles App Store payments and push notifications. When you search for an address, the search text goes to Apple Maps. Apple's privacy policy applies to those.
- Hetzner Online hosts our server in Germany, in the EU.
- We download timetables and live times from the National Transport Authority and Transport Infrastructure Ireland. We don't send them any of your data.
The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete it, by emailing commutely.dev@gmail.com. Because we hold almost nothing that identifies you, deleting the app is usually enough. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.
Children
Commutick isn't aimed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
